My how time flies when you’re having fun! We’ve already passed the midway point for most season-long fantasy football leagues, and the action is only getting hotter from a weekly fantasy perspective. Last week, we took a bar crawl through every daily fantasy site affiliated with DFSN with value of the utmost concern. We’ve added a new wrinkle to the calculations this week, and believe it now to be a more finely tuned source of information.
The first stop on our tour takes us to FanDuel where there’s all kinds of action going down for Week 8. Aside from Sunday’s 60K Multi Entry NFL Bomb, there’s a $500 Friends of FanDuel Freeroll and the $10 and $109 Qualifiers for the FanDuel Fantasy Football Championship with a whopping 500,000 total prize pool!
What we’re most concerned with down below are the players listed in green and red, as well as the percentage listed all the way to the right. Players highlighted in green on the left side of the sheet find themselves in favorable scenarios that could produce hefty amounts of fantasy points. It’s quite the opposite for the players in red; meaning they have tough match-ups. Players not highlighted find themselves in neutral match-ups where the results on the field of play can go either way.
% OF CAP = Percentage of Salary Cap Player Eats at FanDuel
% > < AVG $$$ = % Above or Below DFS Median Salary
Green = Good Spot/Value
Red = Bad Spot/No Value
While Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers both have solid match-ups against the Saints and Jaguars respectively, their salaries at FanDuel check in 24.3% and 32.7% above the median FanDuel salary of $6,666 if it was spread out evenly across all nine roster spots. If forced to choose one, I’d go with Manning who could find himself in a dogfight with Brees and company. As for Rodgers, he might get out to a blazing hot start, but trickle off once a healthy lead is ascertained. I don’t see Jacksonville putting up much of a fight in this one, so you’re best slowing your roll with Mr. Discount Double Check.
RG3, Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, and Matt Stafford all find themselves in tough scenarios matched up against the better than average defenses of the Steelers, Eagles, Bears, and Seahawks. On top of that, they’re asking a pretty penny to be drafted to your team. No value there!
Where the value really shines however is with Roethlisberger and Luck.
Washington’s pass defense is flat out dreadful having surrendered an average of 328.4 passing yards per game, a 92.2 opponent passer rating, and 16 TDs. Look for Big Ben and his receiving corps to fatten up their stats in a big way! Big Ben just might be the QB value play of the week at FanDuel.
Andrew Luck hasn’t been nearly as good on the road as he’s been at home, but he’s got an excellent chance of turning his fortunes around on Sunday running up against a Titans defense that’s allowed an opposing QB passer rating of 108.2 and just allowed Ryan Fitzpatrick to carve them up for 225 yards and three TDs.
The rest of the field generals listed in green don’t do much for me regardless of the postitve match-up, but if you plan on loading up at the other skill positions, then those value players are certainly worth looking into.
